Amanda the Adventurer looks like a classic children's cartoon series from the early 2000s. But behind that cute exterior is a world of horror, where every choice you make can make Amanda angry. The player takes on the role of Riley Park, a girl who has just received a strange letter from her deceased aunt Kate. In addition to the inherited house in Kensdale, Ohio, Riley also finds an old TV and some VHS tapes in the attic with only the episode numbers. When playing the first tape, Riley discovers that it is an unfamiliar children's cartoon with two characters: a girl named Amanda and her companion, Wooly. But something unusual quickly becomes apparent: the two characters seem to realize that Riley is watching and start asking questions that Riley must answer correctly. Too many mistakes, and Amanda will… not be so gentle anymore.
Each tape is a new episode, with hints hidden in the setting, props, or character actions. You may notice unusual details: a strange flashing sign, Wooly’s eyes seeming to be asking for help, or Amanda’s voice acting threatening. Pay attention to even the smallest details to find clues.
Players enter answers, click on objects or on the console, and choose from four suggested options. Don’t give too many wrong answers because Amanda will become cold, even angry.
For example, when Amanda asks, “What would you do if you saw a sheep?” – If you deliberately answer “eat it” instead of “pet it,” her eyes will change, and the atmosphere will immediately become creepy.
A correct answer can lead you to a new clue in the scene, while a wrong choice can cause Amanda to “interrupt” the game, forcing you to follow the path she has set. That's why every time you play it, it brings a new feeling. Sometimes the scenario is gentle; sometimes it turns into a sudden nightmare.
